An Important Update for Our Customers
Our team at Gary Pools & Leisure has been closely monitoring the progression of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Governments, health sectors and those in the general public are working diligently around the world to prevent the spread of this virus and keep the population both safe and healthy. We all have a role to play in preventing the spread of this virus, including our team at Gary Pools & Leisure.
The safety of our employees, our customers, and our suppliers, and our communities remain at the top of our operating priorities. As you know, this is a very fluid situation and we understand that business decisions must be based on each unique situation and information from local jurisdictions. However, at this time, we believe the continued operations of our locations is essential to the health and well-being of our communities. In fact, certain municipalities and federal regulators have requested that our product supply be available, and the supply chain be maintained. Importantly, please note the following:
- Proper sanitization will keep bodies of water safe for our community. As children and families across the country are being asked to shelter at home, providing the means for properly sanitized home pool and spa environments is critical to helping maintain community health.
- According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), COVID-19 cannot survive in a properly treated pool and hot tub water.
- Untreated water can promote many other types of bacteria (Pseudomonas, Cryptosporidium, E. Coli, Shigella, etc.).
- The World Health Organization (WHO) states that controlling water quality is necessary to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases
For these reasons and unless otherwise instructed by a particular jurisdiction, GARY POOLS AND LEISURE’S STORES will remain open throughout this crisis to ensure the availability of the pool and hot tub sanitization supplies for residential, community, and HMAC (Hotel, Motel, Apartment, and Condo). We have asked that each Sales Center adhere to the specific requirements of their local jurisdiction.
Update from the CDC
The CDC has advised that using a pool or spa during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic is safe. To date, there has been no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of a swimming pool or hot tub, so long as the proper guidelines regarding the operation, maintenance and disinfection have been followed. Pool and spa owners must regularly treat and sanitize with water care products and chemicals, such as chlorine and bromine, as they can remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.
